An old Cherokee told his grandson,
“My son, there’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.

One is evil.

It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, dishonesty and selfishness.

The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, compassion & truth.”

The boy gave this some thought and eventually asked, “Which one wins?"

The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed."

Living in Central New York has it's ups & downs. One of those is snow. There are many ups to the winter snow.  It's wonderful to see the beautiful falling snow whiten our trees and yards. Those that enjoy winter sports love the snow and kids (and adults) like playing in it, building snowmen, and making snow angels.

But there are definitely downs of snow. It's cold (like right now it's -9f degrees outside) and then there's the storms and lake effect snow. Below are 2 pictures of driving in white out conditions that led to nearly 2 feet of snow in 1/2 a day in my area. There was 3 1/2 ft of snow that fell in a town close by. It was not fun!
Next week I'll post pics of fun things to do in the snow. This week has just been a little crazy with all the snow.

What are your thoughts on the winter snow? Do you have a fun activity you enjoy during the winter? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Winter Day to you : ^ )

Be acceptable in Your sight,

Today's wonders are the beautiful birds that God created! They've been coming to by feeders this week. I love watching them!
How has God's wonders blessed you today?

Because this is "Wordless", I will use minimum words :^)

My son was able to participate in the Empire State Games this past weekend in Lake Placid. It was so much fun! And what an incredible experience! He just started luging and really likes it. Here's a couple of pics and a clip (it's quick).
I am thankful that The Lord protected him & gave him this opportunity.

These are a few shots taken while hiking. The Lord has truly blessed us with amazing beauty!!

Today's Wednesday Wonders is dedicated to my Uncle Fritz Matthews. He was a loving man who was a devoted father and husband/companion, and dedicated fireman. He has 6 children (4 daughters and 2 sons & their respective families) that love him dearly and will miss him greatly. He was from a family of 6 children, one of which is my Grandma, "Nana", who will also miss him terribly. He had many great accomplishments in his life: a Korean War vet, a Carpenter, and a Musician; but his service to the North Bay Volunteer Fire Department will not easily be surpassed.

He spent 58 of his 78 years as a volunteer fireman performing various duties. This is an excerpt from his life story: [he was] "an active and lifetime member of North Bay Vol. Fire Dept. for 58 years and also served as Fire Police Captain and Fire District Commissioner, and assistant Chief for over 30 years. He was also a current member of the Oneida Co. Vol. Firemen’s Association, Oneida Co. Vol. Fire Police Association, NYS Vol. Firemen’s Association, and the NYS Firemen’s Association. Fritz was a past member of NYS Fire Chiefs Association, Oneida Co. Fire Chiefs Association, NBFD softball & bowling teams. In 1999 the Charles ‘Fritz’ Matthews award was established to honor the firefighter who responded to the most calls throughout the year. On top of this, Fritz was a well-known vocalist and guitar player with his family band, "Rural Rhythm Ramblers" and later known as "Old Friends Band"." (Rome Sentinel)

The above picture depicts a testament to the dedication he had. The NBVFD gave him a parade, of sorts, and he was able to be a part of it. The truck in the above picture is called the "Stump Jumper" because it can climb over anything. This was Uncle Fritz' truck, the one he drove. You can see the flag covered casket on the back of the truck, with the officers in uniform standing near, as the procession traveled through our small town. Perfectly fitting.

This is an incredibly sad time for his family, and I pray that they will feel the comfort of The Lord's loving hands, as He lifts them and carries them through. We've all learned from Uncle Fritz one thing or another, and will always have those memories.

Thank you, Lord, for blessing my life with his.

Today is the first day of my 30 day challenge of blogging every day. It works well since this is also Wednesday :-)

These pictures are actually from last fall. The clouds were beautiful that day. Truly created by God's hand. Each of the shots were taken using my Droid. The interesting thing is, they were minutes apart and in the middle of the afternoon. I thought it was pretty neat how some of the pictures looked like a night sky, while others captured the vivid sunlight well.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Geneses 1:1

I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
Your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me, for I have redeemed you .
Isaiah 44:22

Well, that's it for today. I pray each of you knows that The Lord is everywhere and loves each of us dearly. And that you'll come back tomorrow to see what the new day brings.

Take care. Thanks for stopping by. If you have great cloud pictures, leave a comment and/or a link.

A couple of weeks ago, I introduced you to my new plan for Wednesday Wonderment. Instead of just my "wonders" or a Wordless Wednesday meme, I'm changing to a combo idea: Wednesday Wonders. Each week I will post pictures with a few words, too. All of which, I hope, will be a testament to the One True God. He has blessed us in so many different ways and the beauty that is all around us is just one of them. Along with the beauty of nature, there will be some funny things, too, because God not only provides the beauty we see, but the humor in little things. So please come back weekly and see what's new.

This weeks pics are for the lighter side of life with a touch of humor...
These pictures are some of our animals enjoying lazy days around our home. I always find it interesting the different ways that cats sleep. Simba, our orange tabby, is the funniest. I have so many pics of him in various positions, most of which look very uncomfortable: but he keeps sleeping, lol. I just added a few here. Zac, our gray tabby, acts like a big bully, but he still likes to sleep in oddball places, too. Boxes are always the cats favorite places. Though cats are usually the laziest, the dogs come in a close second :-)

So how do your animals enjoy their sleepytime? I'd love to hear about it. Leave me a comment or a linkback.

Until next week...

It sure has been a while since I've posted on Wednesday Wonderment. If you remember, my posts were full of wonders about no particular thing at all. Well I would like to modify my "wonderment". I plan to posts pictures, kind of like a Wordless Wednesday meme. But all of these pictures will be a testament to the One True God. He has blessed us in so many different ways and the beauty that is all around us is just one of them. Along with the beauty of nature, there will be some funny things, too, because God not only provides the beauty we see, but the humor in little things. So please come back weekly and see what's new.

Thanks.
These pictures are all of our recent snow storm here in Central New York. There are some really incredible views here. I love snapping shots while going somewhere. And I enjoy the beauty that is everywhere. I do not like the cold, though :(

Soon enough spring will be here (the ground hog said so, right? Or is it just that Spring always comes in March or April?) and the temperatures will be warmer. Winter is definitely difficult here in the tundra (as I call it) but it's gorgeous, too.

How about you? Do you have any great pictures of the recent winter weather in your area? You can link back to this post or leave your site address in a comment. I'd love to see them.
