Here's my weekly edition of Wednesday Wonderment.

So often in life we find ourselves going along on autopilot and though our minds may wander, we may not realize what we wonder. So here’s a few of my “wonderments” (and a few from my kids):

I wonder if why I want to exercise so much while driving down the road, but when I have time to, I have no motivation to…

I wonder how my children can be so wonderful and so not so wonderful all in the same moment…

I wonder how long many licks it really does take to finish a tootsie pop (mom, my kids will say)…

And here’s a few from my kids:

I wonder how it can be light at 8pm one night, and the next night it's dark by 7:30pm (because we live in CNY, Honey)

I wonder why it seems like the week goes by so fast sometimes…

We wonder…

What do you wonder…

Being a member of the TOS Crew has allowed us to learn about many great products that are available but that we just didn't know were there. This review is about one such product.

The product is LanSchool. It is a "Classroom Management Software" and is pretty interesting. I was excited when I finally realized just what it is.
This following is a description from LanSchool's website:

"Teachers today are faced with the challenge and opportunity of using technology to teach. Computers are amazing educational tools, but they can also be a huge distraction to learning. The Internet, instant messaging, email and games are a constant temptation for students.

LanSchool v7.5 removes these distractions so you can teach more effectively. No classroom management solution is simpler to install, easier to use or better suited for teaching in a 21st century classroom."
What LanSchool actually is: it is a method to monitor your students (or family) while they are on the internet. From the teacher's computer, messages can be sent to a student's computer, sites can be blocked, screens can be cleared (blank) with a message "eyes to the front" (or any other message you might want), history can be reviewed; there are so many things - you will be impressed!

Before you can utilize LanSchool, it is necessary to have at least 2 computers in your home that can be linked together. I simply have a desktop and a laptop. My desktop is connected to the internet via ethernet, and my laptop is connected via Wi-Fi. I wasn't sure that they would link, but they did without any problems. As soon as I downloaded & installed the software to each computer, I was able to use LanSchool.

The benefits of LanSchool are:
  • Clean & simple to use
  • Complete: no add-ons needed
  • It can be used on Macs or Windows (PC's)
  • Manage one or more students at a time
  • Get your students attentions by "blanking" the screen
  • Create a test for students with true/false or multiple choice answers
  • See the results of tests in real time
  • Send messages to students to be answered immediately or when the student chooses
  • Chat with your students
  • Mute the student's speakers
  • Limit websites
  • Set "wildcards" that will allow or block websites
  • Restrict sites by IP addresses
  • Allow or block applications
  • Monitor apps and keystrokes of the student's
  • Send and collect files between computers
  • Shutdown, power on, or restart student computer remotely
  • View browsing history (students cannot delete history)
  •  High quality security features
  • many more features
What we thought: I really liked this program/software. I believe it's so important to know what your children are looking at online, and this offers that plus so much more. It's designed, I believe, to work in your classroom, but I wouldn't see us really using it that way since most of our curriculum is paper based and not on the computer. But I do appreciate the ability to monitor and block internet use. My daughter says "I don't like it." She didn't like the fact that I could send her notes that interrupted her :P I did it all the more, for fun...
My son said "cool!!". He just thought it was fantastic that I could see what he was doing (he's 10). My husband...didn't really have an opinion. He's not on enough at the same time that I am.

Overall I think this has huge potential for families or schools that have a great deal of online or on the computer work. It's not high priced for home use at just $99 per home license. A license includes 3 years of technical support and 3 years of "major upgrade protection". You can review their pricing page here. You can also contact LanSchool for a quote at 877.370.5546 or email

Have you been searching for great christian fiction for your older kids (or you)? Books that don't use magic to entice it's reader, or superhero's for your children to idol? Or uses the young earth world-view (that's right, NO evolution). Look no further...except to the author when you come to the end of the story & are at the edge of your seat for more :)

About The Peleg Chronicles: Matthew Christian Harding has written (so far) the first two books ofThe Peleg Chronicles
.  These stories take place during the time period of Peleg, hence the title. We received the first book, The Foundlings as members of the TOS Crew. I'd like to insert some Bible history here. Mr. Harding provides a well detailed time-line also on his website, here, but I found myself looking up the history myself, since I haven't studied this particular section of Genesis. I am thankful to Mr. Harding for inspiring me to research this. Whenever we learn more about Bible time history, The Word is only reinforced that much more.

The History: Peleg is a descendent of Shem, Noah's son. Genesis 10 describes the "generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth" (v.1). Shem's son "Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber" (v.24). Peleg was one of the sons of Eber (v.25). Peleg is so named because "for in his days was the earth divided" (v.25). The Tower of Babel division ocurred during Peleg's lifetime. ( Peleg is significant in that according to Luke 3:23-38, Jesus was a direct descendant. You can learn more about Peleg and Genesis 10 by going to or or any other resource you may use for biblical commentary.

The Foundlings: This book is wonderful. My daughter read it more than once and asked to get the second. I do not want to give away anything, as I really encourage to you to get it for yourself. So I will put Mr. Harding's description here:

"Foundlings, book one of The Peleg Chronicles
is Historical Fiction that takes place in the
time period of Peleg, soon after the tower of
Babel dispersion. In its pages we meet
dragons, giants, false priests, the death hunt,
an under-city of the Dwarven Brotherhood,
and many memorable characters.

The story begins with Lord McDougal and his
faithful shield-bearer, Fergus Leatherhead,
departing their lands with giants at their
backs, while before them lie in wait denizens of
the bog-land and forest.

Ever ready to protect and serve others, they
gather in tow an assortment of displaced
adventurers and find themselves embroiled in
a mysterious search for the foundlings:
orphaned Thiery with his companion Horatio
the white wolf, and Suzie who has been
deceitfully retained by the thieves Elvodug and
Flemup. "

Zoe and Sozo Publishing
What We Thought: I asked my daughter what she liked so much about this book and she said "because there's no blank space. I mean, there's not any space where nothing's happening. There's always something important happening". I have read it and can say the same thing. There is excitement with every sentence. You won't want to put the book down, and when you come to the're going to want more! This book is an attention grabber, and keeper. As soon as my daughter was done reading the first, she asked if we could get the second. That took her only 2 days to complete and now she is anxiously awaiting the next in the series. Mr. Harding has certainly written books that have great potential to become classic pieces of literature. Most importantly, throughout the books, Mr. Harding uses scriptural references and his love for The Lord shines. It's refreshing to read such a wonderful book.

How To Purchase: To purchase, you can go to Zoe & Sozo Publishing's website. The book is $11.95 through them with free shipping. You can purchase elsewhere, too, but if you purchase through Zoe & Sozo, you will receive an autographed book! On Zoe & Sozo's website, you can also purchase the second book in the series, Paladins. This book is as wonderful as the first. Mr. Harding has put together Chronology Chart from Adam to Joseph.

Final Thoughts: I also want to mention, Mr. Harding has an incredible testimony that he has graciously put for all to see on his website. He also has The Gospel on his site., as well as scriptural references to giants & dragons. He is truly allowing God to use him, which is wonderful. Even the name of his publishing company, Zoe and Sozo, is an example of The Lord using him. Zoe means life and Sozo means save, deliver, protect.

And lastly, I would like to mention, when we ordered the second book, Mr. Harding wrote a brief note to our family along with his autograph. My kids thought this was so neat. I'd like to thank him for that.
